Stepping or Time Lapse

Stepping makes Stargaze repeatedly jump forwards in time so that changes in star or planet positions can be watched.

Begin stepping by clicking either of two buttons...

The button to the left of the date-picker advances the date (one week by default).
A similar button to the left of the time-picker increases the time (10 minutes by default).

Keeping the animation going...
Double-click one of these buttons to keep Stargaze stepping continuously through a whole year or a full day.
You can stop the animation by clicking the button again.

Making some changes...
Select Time lapse > Settings... in the Map menu to bring up this dialogue box:

Slider bars let you change the two step intervals and adjust the rate of the animation.
Click Set for your changes to take effect.

The Trace option is explained on the next page.
